SALVATION is a frontier outpost on the border between the nation of BRELAND and the barren wastes of the MOURNLAND. Teams of salvagers are hired by salvage brokers to brave the dangers of the Mournland and recover lost treasures from the ruins of CYRE, the once beautiful nation that was destroyed a few years earlier by the mysterious arcane catastrophe known as the Mourning. The office of the local newspaper, THE SALVATION TIMES, was recently reopened by a new staff of editors to keep the people of Salvation informed about local events. The members of the Salvation Times crew are:
- ELYNVASHIR, a kalastar paladin and acolyte of the Path of Light
- JAI, a changeling rogue and sage
- IDRINA D’PHIARLAN, dragonmarked elf warlock of the Great Old One and an agent of the House Phiarlan, a noble dragonmarked family
- TABRIUS VON EINZBERN, human paladin and knight from a noble family in Aundair
Former editors who have left the newspaper are:
- BURDOK, a human druid who wants to reforest the Mournland
- GONDEMAR, a human fighter traumatized by the Last War
- MICKEY KRAGG, a half-orc barbarian and former rugby star
The Story so Far…
10th Day of Therendor, 997 YK
The Salvation Times crew took on an assignment from a goblin salvage broker named BELALUUR. She asked them to find her daughter GARUNDAH who had wandered into the Mournland. The crew found Garundah near the ruins of a lightning rail station. Beneath the station, they also discovered a hidden Cannith laboratory filled with bizarre creatures. From the laboratory, they rescued an artificer named XANTHA who had the Mark of Making and found a collection of rare schemas that Belaluur had been looking for.
Before returning to Salvation, they went in search of Garundah’s friend, a changeling named WHIST, who had gotten into trouble after stealing a relic from the Chapel of the Silver Flame in Salvation. The crew rescued Whist from mutant creatures and returned the relic to the chapel.
Before the day was done, the crew went on one last assignment, following a lead from a hastily written note. The author of the note was an elderly man named EVANAZER. At his request, the Salvation Times investigated the tunnels beneath the fallen warforged colossus on the outskirts of town. There they made an awful discovery: a necromancer named DOCTOR CONSTOCK was experimenting on corpses and trying to create undead monsters. Before they could be questioned further, both Evanazer and Doctor Constock were killed by assassins. The crew suspects the culprits to be members of the ASHHOUNDS, a large salvage team that works for Evanazer’s employer, a powerful salvage broker named IRULLAN KARNACH.

A Few Weeks Later
31st Day of Therendor, 997 YK
The Salvation Times was asked by Belaluur to take on another assignment. Belaluur was planning a rescue mission for her best salvage team, the GRAY DOGS, who had gone missing in the Mournland. Their leader, a Cyran woman named KALLI ALRAN, happened to be an old friend and acquaintance of the Salvation Times editors. At Belaluur’s request, the Salvation Times crew went to write a field report in the ruined city of Kalazart. There, they rescued Kalli and her salvage team from an army of warforged raiders in the service of a warforged supremacist leader called the LORD OF BLADES. They also discovered a strange device in the city – a large ornate box that spoke with a mechanical voice and gave battlefield tactical advice. The Salvation Times crew learned that this device was called the ORACLE OF WAR.
