SALVATION OUTPOST had fallen on hard times. The lightning rail stopped coming to town due to a regional strike among the House Orien railway workers. Without new adventurers and supplies arriving by lightning rail, trouble began to brew in Salvation. Gangs of outlaws from the MOURNLAND circled the town like vultures, and the local taverns began to run dry. Salvation’s only hope was a new tavern that had recently opened: THE CROWN PUB. This fine establishment was sponsored by a representative of the Brelish crown, MAYOR MARK WIGGLEBOTTOM of Dragon’s Crown. The proprietors of this tavern were:
- BILTOR, a rock gnome wizard
- BURDOCK, a human druid who dreamed of reforesting the Mournland
- MIME, a warforged bard and entertainer who had lost the power of speech
- RAYLAN, a human rogue and gunslinger
The Story so Far…
At the request of Salvation’s tavern owners, the Crown Pub crew found a cache of delicious ale in an abandoned brewery in the Mournland. The haul that they brought back to Salvation was generously shared with the local taverns and helped to replenish the town’s supply of ale.
At the request of SHERIFF, a warforged law enforcer, the crew located a speaking stone message station beneath a hidden bunker. The bunker had been built years ago by a member of the AURUM, a secret society of wealthy dwarves and nobles. With the help of a gnome scribe named NORAH D’SIVIS who had survived inside the bunker, the crew sent a distress call to Mayor Wigglebottom, asking him to help resolve the strike and bring the lightning rail back to Salvation.
A week later…
The Crown Pub began to make a name for itself as the place to go when trouble was brewing. One day, the goblin salvage broker BELALUUR asked the pub’s owners to help find a salvage crew called the GRAY DOGS who had gone missing in the Mournland. They were led by a Cyran woman named KALLI ALRAN who was a friend of several of the pub’s owners. The Gray Dogs had also gone looking for a message station to send a distress call to the outside world.
The Crown Pub crew entered the Mournland and found the Gray Dogs in the ruins of a Cyran city, only to be overwhelmed by an army of warforged raiders. However, they also discovered an artifact from the Last War – an ornate box with a trumpet horn which gave battlefield tactical advice. The crew of the Crown Pub soon learned that this strange device was called the ORACLE OF WAR.
