Arriving in Wroat, the Salvation Times team found their way aboard a majestic galleon that slowly sailed along the Howling River. The nobles gathered upon the deck were in the midst of a grand gala, with music being provided by a band of mechanical musicians led by a gnome conductor. Yet something was amiss among the noble guests gathered for evening’s festivities.

There were two secret lovers: CESARIA, the daughter of the Brelish governor, and ORSINO, a Thranish spy disguised as a nobleman named Olivier. Orsino had been sent to assassinate a Brelish secret agent who was hidden among the guests. The Salvation Times team uncovered Orsino’s plot and, with the help of his beloved Cesaria, they convinced him to set aside his mission. Using the cover of a fireworks display, they helped the young lovers escape to start a new life together.

Returning to Sharn, the team learned from Flamewind that they had narrowly averted a disastrous outbreak of war between Breland and Thrane. But dark powers continued to weave their plots from unseen places. One of these forces was led by IRULAN KARNACH, an agent of the Emerald Claw who continued to be at large. The Salvation Times team decided to attack Karnach where she might be more vulnerable: in the past.

With help from BRYNHILDER and the crew of the Reclamation of Lhazaar, they traveled through time and space, arriving at a point 12 years in the past on the continent of Xen’Drik. There they sought out a crystal skull which a younger Karnach had sought in the ruins of a temple built by the ancient giants. The brave journalists managed to pass through the traps in the temple and take possession of the crystal skull, but Karnach arrived with a large force of Karrnathi undead. A fierce battle ensued in which the heroes were narrowly victorious and Karnach lied dead. But the victory was not without cost. Kiari the kenku warlock had given her life to save her friends.
