The heroes rescued the Emerald Prince from the depths of the dungeons on the Emerald Isle and helped him reclaim his rightful place upon the throne from the usurper. They passed on through the harrowing realm of Kythri, and along the way, they were separated from their friend SIMPLE. Then they arrived at last at their destination: the Fortress of Bone and Ice. There, they found the one they were seeking.
It was Erandis Vol, who was revealed to be the Keymaker. Erandis gave the heroes a special keycharm made of bone which opened a temporal vault, from which they retrieved items left for them by their future selves. With their newfound relics, they sought out SIMPLE in the far future, where they encountered their spiritual descendents:
– Lanfear’s great great great great great great granddaughter, descended from the children of Lanfear and a dragonborn paladin; Professor
– Snarpsy Bizzleworth is a gnome scholar and researcher of the history and philosophy of necromancy, who has extensively researched Gerkin’s life, work, and philosophy of necromancy.
– The High Priest of the Temple of Syrinx, which had warped the original message of Wolfgang’s Open Spells Directive (OSD) to gather spells not for sharing, but simply as archives.
– The future captain of the Divine Reclamation, a young half elf storm sorceress called Mina.
– Ortlinde, a young Valkyrie in training, cheerful and admiring her older sisters, including Brynhildr, their heroic deeds and might inspiring her to become as strong as her elders.
– An offshoot of S.I.M.P.L.E., named C.O.M.P.L.E.X. (Combined Organic & Machine Perfected Life EXistence), an advanced version of SIMPLE
And their quest took them to the distant past, where they saw their former selves:
– Gerkin was in a Karnathi arms factory, sitting on a workbench stirring a huge pot to strip flesh from bones for skeleton production.
– Brynhildr was with her sisters in Asgard, preparing for a full scale descent into Khorvaire, as the oracles predicted a great catastrophe that would lead to the death of many, including warriors. As Valkyries, their work was about to begin…
– Wolfgang lived in Cyre before the Day of Mourning, but refused to use his skills to assist in the war effort, so he was exiled from his homeland. He lived in Breland, helping the townspeople defend themselves from invaders of all types, earning their love and trust, mending items for anyone and everyone, for free, sitting on a stump outside of the local library. On the day of Mourning, he was drawing colored pictures for children, using his Wizardly Quill.
– SIMPLE saw himself as he detected the weird sensor readings the night before he was about to go AWOL. But he was caught by his superior officer, and he killed the officer and ran. He had no memory afterwards, until he woke up near Seaside almost four years later.
Together, the heroes confronted an evil version of SIMPLE who existed outside of time. And together, they defeated their foe and rescued the true SIMPLE from the tangled branches of time, and they rescued the timeline from the temporal storms that threatened to tear their reality asunder.
When all was done, the warforged aboard the Reclamation found their new home, and the heroes of the Reclamation bolded went where none had gone before.
