Hoit (HH) the hot-shot pilot, Luke (YM) the dangerous scientist, Shu (JM) the alien explorer, and Naughty (SY) the sexy soldier were aboard their spaceship, the Raptor, when they spotted a signal in deep space. It was coming from an immense starship the size of a world: the legendary Star Dreadnought.
The planet-sized vessel was surrounded by a cloud of smaller vessels of all shapes and sizes. All of them were abandoned and depowered. Many of them had been harvested for parts by the cyber-zombies aboard the Star Dreadnought. These zombies were building up the Star Dreadnought, driven by the mind-bending belief that completing their massive construction would “fix everything.”
With their captain recovering in the medical pod from a brain-infesting alien entity, the crew were left to fend for themselves. Suddenly, the Star Dreadnought hailed them with a signal—a looped message that said “Welcome” again and again—then locked onto their vessel with its powerful tractor beam. Luke devised a clever way to reverse the beam’s polarity, causing an explosion that blew a hole in the side of the Star Dreadnought. Seeing that the nearby cyber-zombies were all busy repairing the hole, the Raptor discreetly entered the Star Dreadnought through the opening to investigate.
Once inside, the crew of the Raptor approached the cyber-zombies. They looked not unlike the crew members themselves. Each zombie wore a spacesuit and had a multi-purpose handheld screen device. Whenever they weren’t working on some construction task, the zombies were all staring into the screens of their handheld devices. The screens showed visions of a utopian future in which the Star Dreadnought had been built up to such a size that the whole galaxy was one giant starship of unimaginable proportions. This promise of a perfect, mechanized universe was what shackled and drove the cyber-zombies. And soon, these visions appeared also on the devices of the Raptor’s crew.
One by one, the crew members fell victim to the alluring visions on their screens—everyone except for Shu the alien explorer. Shu resisted the hypnotic visions and remembered the mysterious necklace that she possessed whose origins were unknown to her. Shu sensed that the necklace possessed untold powers and showed it to her entranced crewmates, hoping to rouse them from their hypnosis. Not only did it bring them back to their senses, but all the nearby cyber-zombies were dazzled by the necklace. They immediately began to take pictures of the necklace and its owner and shared the images on their social media. Soon, Shu had become a star celebrity aboard the Star Dreadnought and received countless requests for interviews and product placement advertisements.
In one of the interviews, a cyber-zombie interviewer asked Shu, “Where is it that you are headed?” Shu answered that she wished to find the true owner of the necklace. It was then that she learned that the true owner resided at the Star Tower in a great plaza in the center of the Star Dreadnought.
Thanks to Hoit’s navigational skills, the crew of the Raptor swiftly made their way to the Star Tower, but the entrance was blocked by a squad of malfunctioning guard droids. Luke set his laser pistol to overload and hurled it at the droids, destroying all of them. But an alarm sounded, summoning even more droids to the entrance. The crew used the Raptor’s powerful shields to stay safe from the attacking droids while making their way into the Star Tower.
While passing through the countless levels of the Star Tower, the crew of the Raptor encountered many dangers, including huge alien bees, and a gigantic man-eating alien plant, against which Naughty promptly unloaded the full blasting power of her laser pistol. But as they passed through the upper levels, they felt as if time was stretching out to an immeasurable degree, as if they were passing through an endless tunnel. Then each of the crew members fell asleep for what they thought was only a brief moment. But when they awoke, the universe had changed. The Star Dreadnought had grown to the size of a galaxy, and the once-empty plaza containing the Star Tower had become a bustling metropolis.
Arriving at last at the top floor of the Star Tower, the crew met the true owner of Shu’s necklace: Luke’s father himself! Father was waiting for Luke to arrive so that his son might take up the reins of power over the Star Dreadnought, which now encompassed the known galaxy. Luke was overjoyed to have such a privilege, but the other crew members of the Raptor were uncertain. They sensed that something was amiss. Ultimately, they surmised that Luke’s reunion with his father was a virtual simulation designed to trick Luke into submission, to assimilate him into the collective consciousness of the cyber-zombie population.
Having realized this, the crew of the Raptor looked for a way to escape. They found a key that opened a mysterious box beneath a fountain. Inside the box, they found old and aged handheld devices that resembled their own. In fact, these were their own devices! Each device had a recorded message that had been made by one of the crew members. The messages warned them that all was not as it seemed. They warned the crew to escape, to stay on the run, and to take the key with them. This key turned out to be nothing less than the very key needed to activate the engine aboard the Star Dreadnought.
Therefore, the members of the Raptor agreed to take the key and the necklace with them, to keep these powerful items safe from the hands of the cyber-zombie population. They remained on the run for the years to come, until they too grew old and felt their end drawing near. And in the waning years of their fugitive lives, they discovered a time paradox that could send their handheld screen devices back through time. So each of them recorded a message, warning their past selves that things weren’t as they seemed, and to take the key as fugitives. Only then could they hope to truly fix everything.
